This is a solution for an assignment to "amplify the background."
My dull-witted senses told me that the best way to amplify would
be to make more, so the applet adds to the image by grabbing
similarly colored squares from the image and placing them
around the outer edges.
There  are
all sorts of convoluted and complex methods that could
be used for this, but I wanted something basic and I found the
individual squares and tiles more interesting.
