7.1 TYPOGRAPHIC GRID

The typographic grid is useful in many ways. It is a practical guideline for organizing text, whether by heirarcy, or legibility. Grids carry connotations which inform us as to the nature of the information contained within. Obviously, both of these could be useful to the computational layout of type. Grids above all provide stabilty against which other things may happen; especially important in a modality in which type can be moved, morphed, etc. over time.

7.2 PHONETIC COLORING

Type text in the box and press enter. The color key is provided.

7.3 POETIC PHONETICS

I tried to manipulate variables affecting the forms of the letters over time that would evoke their phonetic classification. I tried screwing around with a sound editor to tune these visuals into something akin to their real time amplitude graphs.
