Rapid Serial Visual Perception (RSVP) exercise with the following text
by kafka:
I think we ought to read only the kind of
books that wound and stab us . . . We need
the books that affect us like a disaster,
that
grieve us deeply, like the death of someone
we loved more than ourselves, like being ban-
ished into forests far from everyone, like
a
suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen
sea inside us.
- Letter to
Oskar Pollak, by Franz Kafka
I marked-up this text with three variables: pitch accent (if i were
to recite it as naturally as possible), duration, and open/closed/or poetic
word. These three variables, along with placement of the mouse on the vertical
plane of the screen, determine the duration, color value, size and speed
of the RSVP presentation.
