media streams timeline window

Iconic annotations of video are temporally indexed in the the Media Streams Media Timeline. An annotation takes the form of an icon and an adjacent color-bar over whose length the icon's description is deemed valid. These annotations are distributed into the Timeline window's 44 different streams, each containing annotations about a unique aspect of video content such as settings, characters, objects, actions, camera motions, etcetera. Since screen space does not permit all of the streams to be displayed at once, streams which are not currently being browsed or edited are hidden in the hidebars at the bottom of the window.

The Timeline pictured below also contains many illustrative examples of iconic "sentences" -- multiple-icon constructs in which "atomic" icons have been compounded according to a set of grammars.
