  OVERVIEW
   SOUND PORTRAITS IS AN INTERACTIVE SOUND FRAMED AND HUNG LIKE AN IMAGELESS PAINTING. USING SONAR AND INFRARED DISTANCE SENSORS, A MICROCONTROLLER RELATES THE PARAMETERS OF A LOOPING SOUND PLAYING FROM SPEAKERS MOUNTED BEHIND A BLANK MATBOARD SURFACE TO THE SPATIAL LOCATION OF THE VIEWER/LISTENER. THE MOST BASIC PARAMETER OF SOUND, VOLUME, IS MY FOCUS IN THE EARLY VERSIONS OF THE PROJECT. THE FIRST PROTOTYPE INCREASES SOUND GAIN AS THE VIEWER APPROACHES IT.
