spherified
Sphere was one of my first attempts at doing something interesting in openGL - it began as a simple thought question in an openGL text, but i decided to try and actually code it. It is a recursive algorithm that takes a tetrahedron, and divides each existing triangle into four more triangles - only to repeat the process on each of these new triangles
The program yields a more detailed (and more spherical) sphere with an increased depth of recursion. The picture to the right is the end result of about eight iterative steps. This example also has two of the four generated triangles turned off, yielding a fractal 'skin' wrapped onto a sphere.
