Late Morning Moving around the Rouen Cathedral,
onto whose surface In this animation, one of Monet's Cathedral paintings has been aligned with and projected onto the surface of the cathedral model, and then re-rendered from a series of different positions. The dimensionality of the cathedral model can be most clearly seen in the columns and arches around the doors. The black regions, as in the other Monet images we present, are the areas of the Cathedral's geometry that Monet did not paint, and for which we therefore have no texture map. A user of the Rouen Revisited kiosk would experience a sequence similar to this if she were to set the kiosk to display Monet paintings (versus new photographs or archival photographs), set the time of day to a position in the late morning, and then scrub in a clockwise loop using the "point of view" interface. In the interactive kiosk, a 3-dimensional viewing surface is provided, across which users can create their own paths from which to view the cathedral's façade. Available Times of Day:
