Pliant Form Interface

This video shows the Pliant Form Interface in action. By moving the "Flock of Birds" three-dimensional sensor, the participant is able to bend the cubic form seen on the computer monitor. This form is made up of 500 smaller cubes which each have their own behavior. The shape of the overall cube is determined by the varying reactions of the smaller cubes to the movements of the sensor by the participant. Gradually, the participant begins to gain control over the form.

The intent of this project is to capture and rework moments in time. With this goal, I captured the motion of the cubes over two seconds. This information was then brought into Alias/Wavefront and transformed to produce the final animation.
