Note on expectations for PS assignments
A-work requires the following/
1) That technologies are real, and not
just metaphorical. This implies mechanical
and electrical involvement. You are being
judged for your technical expertise in
addition to aesthetic principles.
2) That the finish to an object is real, and
not a haphazard construction. All joints
should be clean, all surfaces should be
perfect, all visuals should be thoughtful.
3) That all ideas should be powerful and
unified. A collection of little good ideas is
not as good as a single powerful idea with
supportive elements.
4) That you interact heavily with others
in class, and that you interact heavily with
the web to figure out things that you do
not already know.
5) That you create things as accurately and
elegantly as possible. A mere reference or
handwave to an object is not sufficient
detail to communicate your intent in the
context of this studio. Use the proper
proportions, use the proper coloring, always
use the proper finishes and detail to
communicate perfection.
6) That your writing skills are clean and
precise. Run a spellchecker. Make sure
that your sentences are complete. Read
it over once or twice to ensure that you
are being coherent. Be meaningful.
