Problem One
Description
Question
Do you prefer sans-serif to serif type? Please give specific
reasons for your preference.
Answer
I prefer serif type if the display resolution is sufficiently high. I
find reading serif type easier and less stressful for long periods
than sans-serif. I think that serif type results in words with more
visual cohesion than sans-serif, and pages of serif text appear to my
eye to have a more integrated feel. On low resolution displays
(virtually any computer monitor) I prefer sans-serif, because it is
visually cleaner. Serif type on a computer monitor, unless carefully
anti-aliased, tends to look blocky and awkward, and does nothing to
enahce readibility.
