In Wash I
first created a field of square automatons that compete in a green
wash of data that is flowing past them. After completing this
stage, I was unhappy with the fact that all of the programs looked
similar but operated very differently internally. So in a snd
version I had the structure of the programs very directly reflect
the machine level functionality giving each a unique appearance.
Here each program appears as a ring of colored instructions, yellow
jumps, a read/write head, and a cluster of accessible data. Another
variation was examined where the programs took advantage of their
spatial metaphor to move around the computational space.
